Fast Finish: Polishing with Power Tools

Click to enlarge With Joe & Anat Silvera When all of the soldering, sawing and fabricating are done, it’s time for polish and patina. Yet so many beginners don’t know how to use a Dremel or Flex Shaft, even if they own one! Now is your chance to learn how to polish jewelry quickly with power tools and a new assortment of bits that make less of a mess, whether you work at the kitchen table or in the studio. Proper technique and safe use of tools, how to remove firescale, tips, tricks and a short list of bits to use to go from a dull surface to a brilliant finish will all be covered in this class. Also learn how to apply patina and buff it back to accent and antique your jewelry. Bring a few projects from any metalsmithing or metal clay classes to polish during class, or practice creating different finishes on metal disks. Students may bring their own Dremel or Flex Shaft, if they like. (Dremels should be 10-speed, preferably with a cord, flex shaft and Dremel Chuck Accessory.
